Karl Lemieux... Hypnotic genius.


Karl Lemieux is truly inspired, immensely creative and amazingly talented. His esthetic is definitely unique and original, beautiful and timeless, tormented, raw but also mellow, violent and peaceful... absolutely brilliant and delightful.

I don't know if any video in the World can show the intensity of his art as it is on a big screen... how brilliant and beautiful it is... Still, it remains extremely moving and "not too far from the truth"!
He doesn't have that much of a presence on the web either...


Karl is also a member and co-fonder of the Double Negative Collective, based in Montreal. A couple of his incredible films can be seen by following the link below, along with other beautiful films from his über talented partners in that collective.

I guess, the best thing to do for now is just to keep looking for one of his performances ( It feels good to live in Montreal, as he resides here & offers projections sometimes ) and otherwise, to just keep digging once in a while in that big garbage that the internet is, and find one of his gems here and there when they happen to be published...

The Dream

Not long ago, in a charming dream,
I saw myself -- a king with crown's treasure;
I was in love with you, it seemed,
And heart was beating with a pleasure.
I sang my passion's song by your enchanting knees.
Why, dreams, you didn't prolong my happiness forever?
But gods deprived me not of whole their favor:
I only lost the kingdom of my dreams.
